Nor do I know if the things I’m going to complain about are because they’re based on that or not.īefore we get to the negatives I will say this book has good pacing and tied things together nicely, I even commented this on page 238 on my Goodreads update. I shall have to first preface this with a I didn’t even realise it was a retelling of an Agatha Christie novel as well, I’ve not read any of hers. Unfortunately it took a year or so till I won a copy I believe and then I just kind of forgot about it until 2016.Īnd oh boy. ![]() Pretty much all the blogs I followed back then read it and loved it. ![]() It is all too common to need to have read decades worth of backstory to full appreciate a new volume. This is a common concern for comic books. Without any previous attachment to or knowledge of these characters all of their deep emotional and philosophical developments fell very flat. I think this may be one of those cases where people say this is a good book when they really mean it is good, for a Swamp Thing book. However, as it stands today, I can say… eh it was alright. Now, if either of those two factors were different I may be able to relate to the unbridled praise for this book. This is the only Swamp Thing book I’ve ever read and therefore do not have a background on these characters or an emotional attachment to them. Watchmen is great but I haven’t gobbled up his works with the enthusiasm of many of his fans. Let me start off by saying that I am not a die hard Alan Moore fangirl. And Vi's love of Jag makes me dislike her. This short story was too long right from the get go because Indy is terribly lame, and now I can expect there to be more from her in the next book. ![]() Instead of being angry someone who had potential is dead, I just don't care, because she seemed like a twat. I felt she only made the competition between the girls to make it more acceptable with readers when she was killed off. Too bad the author couldn't have let the character be that bit more loveable. ![]() It only took a book and two short stories for someone to not just disappear and turn up later, but actually die. The only interesting part in this whole thing was that someone actually died, finally. This could've made me want to know about her, but no, huge fail. Really, does this author know the difference? Indy would have been a more likable character if we wern't introduced to her as being in love with Jag. Another character who you just have to accept is deeply floundering in obsession/love. I had no interest in Indy when she appeared in Possession and I still have none after reading Regret. ![]() ![]() ![]() Please be aware that the delivery time frame may vary according to the area of delivery and due to various reasons, the delivery may take longer than the original estimated timeframe.

The book is a lyrical meditation on Blixen's life on her coffee plantation, as well as a tribute to some of the people who touched her life there. The book, first published in 1937, recounts events of the seventeen years when Blixen made her home in Kenya, then called British East Africa.
